Acheirie

Acheiria refers to absence of one or both hands and can occur in a number of situations, including:

• amniotic band syndrome: particularly if unilateral
• Cornelia de Lange syndrome
• fetal hydantoin syndrome  

Epidemiology

Rare defect occurring in 1:65 000 live births.
