Gallbladder inflammatory polyps
Gallbladder inflammatory polyps are a benign subtype of gallbladder polyps, representing ~10% of all polyps. They appear as a result of chronic inflammation (chronic cholecystitis).

Pathology
Gallbladder inflammatory polyps are thought to develop from chronic inflammation, with deposition of cholesterol in the gallbladder wall and mucosal irritation, leading to a fibrous reaction .
There is no evidence that they are a premalignant lesion .
Radiographic features
Ultrasound
- usually multiple and <10 mm
- variable echogenicity
- cannot be reliably differentiated from other subtypes of gallbladder polyp
- features of chronic cholecystitis might be evident
