A mnemonic for widening of the pubic symphysis is:
- EPOCH
Mnemonic
- E: bladder exstrophy
- P: prune belly syndrome
- O: osteogenesis imperfecta
- C: cleidocranial dysostosis
- H: hypothyroidism
Note that this mnemonic does not include pubic diastasis secondary to trauma, a common cause of pubic symphysis widening.
