Symmetrical periosteal reaction
There are a large number of causes for a symmetrical periosteal reaction :
- chronic venous insufficiency
- hypertrophic osteoarthropathy
- physiologic periostitis, most common cause before 6 months old
- Caffey disease
- juvenile idiopathic arthritis
- pachydermoperiostosis
- congenital syphilis
- fluorosis
- thyroid acropachy
- dysproteinaemia
