Tibionavicular ligament

The tibionavicular ligament is the most anterior of the four superficial components of the deltoid ligament .

Gross anatomy

The tibionavicular ligament is located superficial to the deep anterior ligament, and the trochlea of the talus, and runs in a fan-like fashion to the navicular bone . The tibionavicular ligament becomes tenser with plantarflexion-abduction .

Attachments

The tibionavicular ligament originates from the anterior colliculus of the medial malleolus just anterior to the origin of the anterior tibiotalar, and tibiospring ligaments.

The distal insertion is located on the dorsomedial aspect of the navicular bone just above the distal insertion of the superomedial part of the calcaneonavicular or spring ligament, and anterior to the articular surface of the talonavicular joint.
