Juvenile osteoporosis refers to osteoporosis occurring in children.

Pathology

Etiology

It can arise from a number of causes :

• primary conditions
  • osteogenesis imperfecta
  • Bruck syndrome
  • osteoporosis pseudoglioma syndrome
  • Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
  • Marfan syndrome
  • homocystinuria
• secondary conditions
  • secondary to chronic inflammation
  • secondary to glucocorticoid therapy
  • from prolonged immobilization (disuse osteopenia)
• unknown
  • idiopathic juvenile osteoporosis
