Pituitary blastoma
Pituitary blastomas are a very rare type of pituitary tumor.
Epidemiology
Pituitary blastomas typically affect children under 2 years old. They are almost pathognomonic for DICER1 syndrome and warrant testing for germ-line DICER1 mutation if found .
Clinical presentation
Pituitary blastomas can present with infantile Cushing syndrome, diabetes insipidus, ophthalmoplegia, strabismus or signs of intracranial hypertension.
Radiographic features
Few cases of imaging findings have been reported, but they can present as small solid pituitary masses or large cystic and solid masses with suprasellar and cisternal extension.
