Metatarsalgie
Metatarsalgia refers to generalized pain in the region of the metatarsophalangeal joints. It is a frequent presenting complaint in the forefoot.
Pathology
Etiology
Causes include :
- interdigital (Morton) neuroma
- Freiberg infraction
- metatarsal stress fractures
- intermetatarsal bursitis
- adventitial bursitis
- inflammatory and degenerative arthritis
- metatarsophalangeal joint synovitis/capsulitis
- tendinosis/tenosynovitis
- plantar plate tear/turf toe
- schwannoma
