The five most common masses in the pituitary region are:

  • pituitary macroadenoma
  • meningioma
  • aneurysm
  • craniopharyngioma
  • suprasellar pilocytic astrocytoma

    • Craniopharyngioma and suprasellar pilocytic astrocytoma are common in children, and pituitary macroadenoma, meningioma, aneurysm are mostly seen in adults and are exceedingly rare in children.
