with hypopituitarism. Lateral radiograph of the skull (top image) shows an enlarged sella turcica. Sagittal TI MRI without and with contrast of the sella (middle two images) shows a large heterogenous mass arising in the sella and extending superiorly into the suprasellar region that shows primarily rim enhancement with contrast. Coronal T2 MRI of the sella (bottom image) shows the sellar and suprasellar mass to have a high signal intensity implying it has cystic and or proteinaceous components. The diagnosis was craniopharyngioma.

with increasing headaches. Three contiguous axial FLAIR MRI images (above left, above right, below left) show a high signal intensity infiltrative mass without much mass effect centered in the left frontal lobe which crosses the corpus callosum into the right front lobe and right central white matter. Axial T1 MRI with contrast of the brain (below right) shows the mass to have faint enhancement. The diagnosis was gliomatosis cerebri due to anaplastic astrocytoma.

Common brain tumors in infancy (i.e. under one year of age) are quite different from those of brain tumors in adulthood. Most are located in the supratentorial region (~65%) and they carry a poor prognosis.
The frequency of these tumors varies according to studies, but the most common brain tumors include :
- anaplastic astrocytoma
- medulloblastoma
- ependymoma
- atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT)
- choroid plexus papilloma
- intracranial teratoma
- embryonal tumors with multilayered rosettes (previously known as CNS PNET)
- craniopharyngioma
