fetal hepatosplenomegaly
Fetal hepatosplenomegaly refers to the combined enlargement of both the fetal liver and the fetal spleen.
Pathology
This can occur from a number of pathologies, including:
- transient abnormal myelopoiesis (TAM) associated with trisomy 21
- in association with fetal hydrops
- in utero infections
- fetal hypothyroidism
- due an underlying syndromic association
- storage disease
