Cystic pulmonary metastases are atypical morphological form on pulmonary metastases where lesions manifest as distinct cystic lesions. It is slightly different from the term cavitating pulmonary metastases in that the lesions are extremely thin walled.
Pathology
It has been reported with many primary tumors which include:
- colorectal cancer
- endometrial stromal sarcoma of uterus
- soft tissue sarcomas
- epithelioid cell sarcoma
- urothelial carcinoma
- osteosarcoma
Treatment and prognosis
Complications
One of the complications that can occur with cystic lung metastases is the development of pneumothoraces.
