anembryonic pregnancy in the exam
Getting a film with anembryonic pregnancy in the radiology fellowship examination is one of the many exam set-pieces that the candidate must be prepared for.
Description
Transabdominal and transvaginal pelvic ultrasound shows a uterus with an intrauterine gestational sac. MSD is at least 25 mm on the transvaginal scan with no embryo or yolk sac.
The cervix is long and closed. Both ovaries are normal with no adnexal mass or free fluid. This is a failed intrauterine pregnancy. It is my routine practice to inform the patient and the referring doctor.
